Sensei Dakota Burtnett

Sensei Dakota Burtnett

Sensei Dakota Burtnett started with Coszacks when he was in the fifth grade. He began taking karate class because he was a troubled individual. His school principal suggested martial arts to relieve some of his anger.

To his surprise, Sensei Dakota fell in love with the Coszacks style in a matter of weeks. As he was training and learning the material, he was also learning life skills and growing as a person.

When Sensei Dakota was a blue belt, he gravitated toward one Sensei to help him reach his goal of black belt. He went to class three times a week and started to learn to teach.

Sensei Dakota took private lessons from Sensei Brad for two and a half years. In that time, he was promoted from blue belt to black belt.

Sensei Dakota took his black belt promotion on March 12, 2011. He received his second degree black belt in October of 2012. After earning his black belt, Sensei Dakota continued to teach at Zanesville and Dresden.

After earning his black belt, Sensei Dakota began competing in tournaments regularly. He soon made a name for himself in the UPMAC. At the end of the year, he earned first place in the state of Ohio for sparring in the junior black belt division.

Some of the judges were so impressed with Sensei Dakota that he was invited to try out for Team Ohio. He is still on Team Ohio and will continue competing in national tournaments with his team.

The skills Sensei Dakota Burtnett has learned with Coszacks will stay with him the rest of his life. He will be attending The University of Tiffin to double major in Homeland Security and Terrorism and Cyber Defense and Information Security. He plans to further his education in martial arts and continue to train under Coszacks.
